The Field, 2008
October 24, 2007 — wickleThis page will bring you to everything that I’ve written in my “Working the Field” series, which I brought to a premature end on 10-24-07, because I have things to do that I deem more important.
I would encourage anyone who has time to approach the news networks and encourage them to commit some amount of time to covering the “third party” and “minor” candidates. The press should not be determining that the Constitution Party doesn’t deserve any coverage, for example. Their role is to inform, not decide what we need to know.
Anyway …
These are the articles I had written up to this point.
“The Field” (9/18/07) - basically a list and statement of purpose about the project
Part I (9/19/07) - Mitt Romney and Christopher Dodd
Part II (9/20/07) - Rudy Giuliani
Part III (9/20/07) - Prohibition Party candidates Earl Dodge and Gene Amondson
Part IV (9/21/07) - Fred Thompson
Part V (9/22/07) - Daniel Imperato, running for the Libertarian and Green nominations
Part VI (9/26/07) _ Hillary Clinton
Part VII (9/28/07) _ Bill Richardson
Part VIII (9/29/07) - Ron Paul
Part IX (9/29/07) - Stewart Alexander, running for the Socialist and Peace & Freedom Party nominations
Part X (10/2/07) - Barack Obama
Part XI (10/5/07) - Socialist Party, USA candidates Eric Chester, David Frey, Norma Harrison, Brian Moore, Stanley Hetz, Tino Rozzo, Dwight Welch
Part XII (10/8/07) - Sam Brownback
Part XIII (10/9/07) - Tom Tancredo
Part XIV (10/9/07) - Constitution Party candidates Bryan Malatest, Diane Beall Templin, and Don Grundmann, with cameos by Ron Paul and Alan Keyes
Part XV (10/12/07) - Mike Gravel
Part XVI (10/17/07) - Green Party candidates Elaine Brown, Cynthia McKinney, Jerry Kann and Jared B
Part XVII (10/17/07) - Green Party candidates Kent Mesplay, Jesse Johnson, Kat Swift, Paul Kangas, Gail Parker, Rebecca Rotzler, and Joe Schriner, with a reprise of Daniel Imperato and a cameo appearance by “Jingo” Jingozian
Update: An Interview With Joe Schriner
That’s about half of what I planned to do, but my time is needed elsewhere at this point. If time permits, I’ll try to do some of the others, but I don’t expect to at this point.
I do encourage anyone who’s interested in this to contact the major news media and ask them to provide more-thorough coverage. Instead of another story about whether Fred Thompson is married to a “trophy wife,” how about using that time to look at the Libertarian candidates, so that every voice can be heard?
I know, it’s a wacky concept.
