Poor Mitt …

To be fair, I haven’t heard this from the official Romney campaign, but I’ve heard it from a number of Gov. Romney’s supporters, including Glenn Beck this morning.

Whine, whine, whine, whine, whine …

Poor Mitt Romney deserves the nomination, and anybody who’s interfering with that is just messing things up for him.

And, of course, it’s okay to insult and trash the rest of the world.

Over at ComMITTed to Romney, the descent into madness has resulted in a really liberal-sounding whiny argument. Yes, folks. Mitt Romney didn’t win Florida because of religious bigotry. Mike Huckabee is only in the campaign because he’s a bigot and wants to drive votes to McCain. It has nothing to do with trying to win.

The comparison to Rudy Giuliani is rather amusing … considering that Giuliani has been nowhere in any of the states so far, and shows no signs of being anywhere in the upcoming states. Gov. Huckabee has a win, and he has some good finishes, and some good upcoming states.

Once again, the Romney camp is declaring that they deserve the nomination. And, once again, they’re pulling out the religion card.  In case you hadn’t noticed, Gov. Romney is a Mormon, which entitles him to “poor, picked-on” status.

So, just to clarify — if Gov. Romney doesn’t win, then it doesn’t mean that his campaign didn’t resonate with the Republican voters, it means that everyone else is just a big ol’ bigot.

I haven’t heard this kind of whining from anyone else, except Hillary Clinton.

Get over yourself, Governor.

I judge people by their actions. When you look at the actions of the mormon church since it’s inception and there are too many to list- you can draw a conclusion that is valid.
When you look at Mitt’s actions - likewise.
It’s a no brainer and the people of Iowa, New Hampshire and Florida saw it too, despite Rush’s on air assault on Huck and McCain. And a very strong media push for Romney.

    People see who he is.

  2. Kingdom Advancer Says:

Oh, that post was hilarious–and the comments (I mean over at “CoMITTed to Mitt.” )

One commenter said: “Only Mitt has been questioned about his religion.”

Whatever that person is smoking, keep it far away from me. I’d prefer to keep my head in reality.

Another said: “Good points. When GMR gave his Faith in America speech, MH whined about how he wished he could make such a speech.

He has always been able to give such a powerful speech to publicly denounce religious bigotry as did JFK and GMR. But he will never do so. Why is that?”

Well, naturally, the only answer is that Mike Huckabee is a bigot, right? Give me a break.

The reason Mike Huckabee hasn’t made a speech to denounce religious bigotry is that the bigotry defined by those one “bigot-watch” is not real bigotry.

My site would be considered majorly bigoted by the likes of the blog you linked to. But it’s quite simple: I believe the Bible….they….?

  3. Kingdom Advancer Says:

Then, they’re baffled by the fact that Huckabee’s voters don’t vote for Mitt Romney, and the hypothetical scenario where some of Huckabee’s voters would go to McCain rather than Romney.

Does flip-flop on abortion mean anything to them? Does rape and incest exceptions mean anything to them? Does “the country is not ready to ban abortion” (a built-in copout by Romney) mean anything to them? Does flip-flop on gun control mean anything? Does a rich man trying to buy the presidency mean anything to them?

I’m sorry. I’m ranting. But it’s your fault. :D You linked to that site. I can’t handle the absurdity.

Those people have serious entitlement issues.

    No problem. Rant away.

  5. in2thefray Says:

That site is out there but no more so than one you could find for any of the GOP candidates.Whether fan blogs are a boost or bane of candidates is open for debate.
As you yourself have stated no official comment along the lines of this post have been issued by Romney. I dare say that’s due to the fact that in most of the states religion isn’t an issue and he knows it.
You and your commenters make a good observation re: message resonating w/ the voters. For the most part none of the candidates have done that that’s one of the reasons the “front runners” can’t break 40%. Relative to that any one of the candidates take votes from others. When people see that and look at the math of the remaining race they get passionate about spoilers.

  6. tam Says:

UGH! Another one of those “takes votes away” comments. No one can take a vote away from another candiate (unles they are rigging elcections). Votes belong to no candiate… if someone votes for Huckabee instead of Romney… they are simply voting for who they think is best. They are Romney votes that someone is taking from him.

The lack of logic just amazes me… and the idea that votes are owed some, that they don’t need to earn it… and someone else getting the vote is taking away from someone else.

Okay - rant over, for now.

  7. Larry Says:

    Tam,
Good points and good rant. This is something that needs to be ranted on.

  8. wickle Says:

As I said to Kingdom Advancer … rant away!

  9. in2thefray Says:

For what it’s worth at no time did I say anyone is owed votes. I also accept loyalty to any candidate. The logic though is that the primaries eventually become 1:1 races. Mathematically Huckabee can’t win nor can Paul. Huckabee could theoretically hang in for the mythical brokered convention but that’s unlikely. Further the logic of the 1:1 is that there is a contrast of positions, this has been true and is true now. McCain v Romney represent a real choice in deciding what the GOP stands for.To a lesser degree the same could be said that McCain v Huckabee would offer the same thing,a real difference in base position.Previous comments have alluded to a distaste for the opinions of pundits but that doesn’t discount their real world credibility. Huckabee has a very real chance at being the VP so there’s something for you all to look forward to. So there is the logic.

  10. Frances C Says:

Even if Mitt Romney were an evangelical, I would never vote for a flip-flopping liberal liar.

  11. Michelle Says:

I’m so relieved that Mitt lost Florida–I won’t vote for him under any circumstances.

In case you haven’t already heard, HucksArmy is promoting a fundraiser tomorrow, Friday, Feb 1st called: MAX OUT FOR MIKE!!! Sign up to donate at http://www.maxoutformike.com

We are trying to raise a massive amount of money for Governor Huckabee so he can compete effectively in the Super Tuesday states. Give as much as you can afford and if you are already maxed out, please help us promote!

  12. tam Says:

But for some of us… Mitt vs McCain is not a real choice. I refuse to do lesser of two evils and would never, ever support either of them! So there goes the logic that another candidate is “taking away votes”.

I actually think the fact no one is even getting 40% is a good thing. Tells the base their are some serious issues!

And thanks for letting me rant Wickle!

  13. in2thefray Says:

Not to be a bother but I have to be honest in the discussions I enter.
@Frances C…Please apply that evenly and fairly to McCain also.
@tam…I appreciate your position on not liking the choice. The base knows there are serious issues it’s the candidates that are seemingly in the dark.
@ Michelle and the spirit of others…I wish I could believe Mike was out to compete.
I concur Wickle is being an excellent host.

  14. wickle Says:

@In2thefray - I think that you and I approach these questions in a fundamentally different way. Forgive me if this comes across as insulting, it isn’t meant to.

I think that you’re a lot more calculating than I am, and you take it that that’s how all politicians (or at least all of the politicians in this race) are. In our previous conversation about Realpolitik, for example, you more or less accept that that’s the way it is … I think it doesn’t have to be.

I’m much more of an idealist. I realize that there are players in politics, and I don’t like them, which is why I don’t like Romney. I want politicians who really believe in what they say — and I think that they really exist. Unless I misread, I don’t don’t think that you believe in them.

I think that you’re looking at me thinking that my search for an honest politician would be as fruitful as a search for Santa’s workshop.

Since I believe that honest politicians (”true believers,” so to speak) do exist, I look for them.

Thanks for the compliment, by the way. I enjoy honest conversations … although I did make fun of the whole “stealing votes” thing under “Florida Results.” (Perhaps at the expense of John Cox.)

  15. TRM Says:
