“Huck-Chuck Chili”

At the American Legion in Rochester, NH last night, there was a rally featuring the band Mama Kicks! and what the Legion cooks were calling “Huck-Chuck Chili.” I had to agree with Lisa Guyer (lead singer of the band) when she said that she hopes it tastes better than it’s name makes it sound.

In any event … because someone (ahem!) driving the car thought that the American Legion was someplace else in Rochester (and then a different someplace else …), I got us there, I mean, we were a little late for the 5:15 doors opening. At 5:30-ish, we were parking far down the road, and were well past the number of seats. We stood in the back of the room, which still provided good viewing. Read the rest of this entry »

The early votes …

Dixville Notch, famous for its midnight primary, has spoken. Of course, the less-famous Hart’s Location has also joined in on the action. If these two metropli show the way for the rest of New Hampshire, today will be a good day for Sen. John McCain.

In Dixville Notch, there were 7 votes cast in the Republican primary — 4 for McCain, 2 for Romney, and 1 for Giuliani. On the Democratic side, there were ten votes — 7 for Obama, 2 for Clinton, and 1 for Richardson.

In Hart’s Location, which is a lovely little community far south of Dixville Notch (of course, almost everything is far south of Dixville Notch unless it’s in Canada), the results for the Democrats were similar — Obama took 9, Clinton 3, and Edwards 1. The Republicans in Hart’s Location broke from their Dixville Notch fellows and went 6 for McCain, 5 for Huckabee, 4 for Paul, and 1 for Romney.

So, with these two polls in, it looks like Sen. McCain has the early lead. We’ll see how that works out.
