Hat tip to OneMom for her post “Mike Huckabee does the ‘unthinkable’.”
Reading the comments in the Newsweek column that she cites, I had to laugh out loud when I read the comment by a Ron Paul supporter calling himself “hucku.” The time stamp on it is the 17th at 11:59 PM, just scroll down.
The Huckster stole this idea from Ron Paul, just like he stole the “gee I wanna get rid of the IRS” comment and his entire “grassroots” campaign strategy (except he had to hire a lot of the so-called grassroots).
Of course, I love the charge that Gov. Huckabee stole the idea of abolishing the IRS. The fact that it’s been his stated policy for months doesn’t get through to certain people. I guess some of those same people think that Gov. Huckabee has actually hired his grassroots organization (which brings up the question — with what money?). Of course, I’m one of those Huckabee bloggers supposedly being paid by the campaign. So you can’t really trust me, right? By the way, I’m still waiting on those checks, Governor.
But I love it … Mike Huckabee stole the idea of saying “Merry Christmas” from Ron Paul? Is he kidding?
(I assume that “hucku” is a he.)
For the record, I still don’t think that Rep. Paul is insane. I do think that he’s shored up the looney vote, though. “Hucku” is such an example.
I again put forward Tam, Libertarian Girl, and B. J. Lawson as rational and reasonable supporters of Ron Paul. Thus far, I have yet to see any of them buying into the conspiracy theories. I’m afraid that “Hucku” doesn’t reflect well on his candidate.
He’s good for a laugh, though. I’ve got to admit that.
And Merry Christmas *
*”Merry Christmas” is a registered trademark of Dr. Ron Paul.

Cute … especially the disclaimer at the end there. I agree with you about Tam, LG and BG as being rational supporters of RP.
Merry Christmas (do I have to pay a royalty fee to someone?).
December 19, 2007 at 12:34 am
Yes, but I think you can just have the royalties deducted from your blogger payment checks.
December 19, 2007 at 12:55 am
Thanks, rarely does anyone call me reasonable ;) – and please send all royalty fees to me, after all it was my holiday forst… ;)
And the whole “stole eliminate the IRS stole platform” deal drives me nuts… I posted an article a few weeks ago telling Ron Paul supporters to get their facts straight, that Huckabee is a long time supporter of the Fairtax (one of the reasons he has drawn my interest).

Yes, I read that post.
In defense of the people who say that, I’m not sure how much attention people have been paying to the candidates until now … and even a CNN commentator said after the YouTube debate that Huckabee’s assertion was new.
It wasn’t, of course, but a voter could be forgiven for trusting a professional analyst.

You know, the campaign is dreadfully behind on that “blogger payroll” … such a disappointment.
Actually, the assertion by RP supporters that we (Huckabee bloggers) are paid was one of the funniest things I have heard this entire campaign.
Tam … let us know how much those royalty payments will be.
:o)

Wickle – I am at the point where I think anyone believing a “professional analysist” without checking for themselves, needs a thump upside the head. I have seen so much twisting and spin coming from the “pros” (on nearly every candidate) that I think everyone should regulate them to pure opinion.
December 19, 2007 at 1:43 am
Onemom.. I think that 10% of your pay for the article for each use of the phrase would be fair… ;)
December 19, 2007 at 2:02 am
Tam – that’s reasonable, I believe I can afford 10% of nothing.
:o)
Good night everybody.

Ron Paul did not invent Santa.. The Fed did.. Enjoy your presents while you can becasue well Santa is speding all his money on toys (weapons) for other little children and well sorrry there will be no Christmas this year.. in fact Santa is one of the original conspiritors in a multilevel conspericy to make a profit from toys and thus keeps some for other boys and girls so he can make them be good all year round.. hmm.. ok now I am sounding wierd..
I am no conspiracy nut.. just a person who wants a sane foriegn policy not built on war and or threats of war..
Take care all.

Yes, actually, I think that Santa did invent the stealth technology used in the F-117 and B-2. I think Lockheed is trying to get the contract on producing squadrons of the sleigh for surgical strike operations …
As I said, Tim, I don’t think that Dr. Paul is nuts, he just has a bunch of them backing him. He also has sane backers, and I’m pleased to meet another of them.

Tam-
Your point about professional analysts is right on. I have read and listened to much about Mike Huckabee’s stands on the issues. This is the first political candidate I have ever been excited about and followed. I have been astonished at the distortion, cynicism, and obvious agenda in the “mainstream” media. And the thought that people are believing what they are being told…
