Stem Cell Breakthrough
November 20, 2007 — wickleWe can just about end this debate now.
There is no need to destroy lives for stem cells, we can make what we want from existing skin tissue, say the scientists involved.

I seldom enough agree with either of them, I’m not sure that I’ve ever agreed with both of them at the same time on any question beyond “Which way is up?”
However, Newt Gingrich’s “Winning the Future” e-mail today contained the following section:

(I had every intention of leaving the house after my last post … but I took one last look at my e-mail … sigh …)
From today’s Washington Post, Richard Cohen has a piece about Mike Huckabee.
He calls on Mike Huckabee to make a speech and promise that his faith does not constitute a threat to the rest of the United States, thus demonstrating that the US has come far enough now that being a faithful Christian is somehow deemed dangerous. Wow … Read the rest of this entry »
This is a nice little light-hearted post.
Today it’s snowing. I’m not sure how much we’re going to wind up with, but the lawn has actually disappeared now under a dusting. I just want to take this opportunity to remind us all to get back to something important and basic … we have been given a wonderful and beautiful world in which to live, one full of wonders and miracles.
Like snow.
I don’t know anyone who can look outside at the first real snowfall of winter and not pause to think about how wonderful it is.
Sure, I know that in the near future snow can mean shoveling, slippery roads, paying the oil company to keep the house warm, and either getting up insanely early to run the snowblower or paying the plow guy to keep the (82-yard unpaved) driveway clear all winter.
But for this moment … watch the snow! Millions upon millions of individually crafted pieces of crystalline art are falling all around, to remind me that God has made a world in which we live, and which is full of absolutely boundless beauty.
I don’t know what the weather is where you are, unless you happen to be in southern New Hampshire. But wherever you are, enjoy something about the world we’ve been given.
I seem to think that it’s been a while since we’ve really had pre-Thanksgiving snow. We’ll add this to the reasons to be thankful about it.
The Lord has promised that His mercies are new every day. This is the day that He has created, let us worship and be glad in it.
Today, I’m going to take my (3 1/2-month-old) daughter for a walk in the snow for the first time … I’m going to look around at a world of white, I’m going to be thankful for the beauty of Creation, and I’m going to savor the day that I’ve been given.
I invite you to join me in your own way, wherever you are.
Blessings!
I am not a registered Republican … I’m an independent. I’m not sure how I wound up on a John Edwards mailing list, but I got a very expensive-looking brochure from his campaign, and the front cover jumped out at me … Take a look:

So, what’s with WAR being highlighted? Is he trying to play on the “fighting for people” theme, or is he secretly renouncing his pull-out-of-Iraq plan?
Lighten up, folks … have fun with it!
