Rick Calhoun, in support of Mike Huckabee

A Letter From Rick Calhoun, Former Chairman of the Arkansas Eagle Forum

November 18, 2007

Dear Conservative Friends:

Let me go on record as supporting Mike Huckabee for President of the United States. Now is the time for Christian conservatives to unite behind the only candidate in the upcoming presidential contest who shares our values and vision for America.

As a former Chairman and board member of Eagle Forum of Arkansas, I authored many newsletters that stated: “Eagle Forum of Arkansas embraces a set of values based on Christian principle and Biblical authority. These values must always serve as our guide.” These ideals have delivered political success and blessed evangelicals with influence in national politics. Apology re: Comments

Generally, I have allowed comments on this blog without approval, because that’s the way that I think conversation should go.

But having had to delete 14 comments by Ron Paul devotees offended by my reading one of his campaign mailings, I’ve had to change this temporarily. Hopefully, they’ll wander on to some other blog, news site, or online casino later.

For those who wish to comment: I hit “Delete” when I see profanity or excessive insulting … frankly, that’s unless you make yourself look so stupid that I think you deserve to be posted. If you would like to discuss things intelligently, go for it. But I have no intention of reading “Go, Ron, Go!” 10,000 times, nor posting profane speculation about my family lineage.

I know that there is a difference between Ron Paul spammers and thoughtful Ron Paul supporters. I invite that latter. The former can expect their comments to vanish.

I guess I should feel honored. I’ve never been Ron Paul spammed before.

New Mike Huckabee TV Ad

Mike Huckabee is now putting up his first TV ad in parts of Iowa.

Yes, he’s been making his climb in the polls without TV ads until now.

Check it out here.

Enjoy.

Ron Paul Mailing

My wife is a registered Republican, which is why (I assume) she gets the collection of mailings. A certain former Massachusetts governor sends her mailings about each week. Some of those are fun to deconstruct, but maybe I’ll work on those some other time.

The one she received from Ron Paul’s campaign last week was rather shocking in its claims. Combined with assertions and claims I have seen in various commentaries and blogs by Rep. Paul’s supporters, I have decided that he is more of a cult icon than actual political figure. Read the rest of this entry »
