In case you haven’t noticed, I have an abortion counter on the sidebar, which counts the number of abortions performed in this country since the beginning of the war in Iraq — just to keep all of the death tolls in perspective.
This morning, it broke 6 million.
To put that number in perspective … the states of Washington and Indiana have about six million people.
The nation of Israel has about six million people.
The Dallas-Forth Worth area in Texas has about six million people.
Try to imagine those populations dead.
If, since 2003, everyone in Dallas-Ft. Worth was killed, would we be discussing the finer points of Federalism and jurisdiction, or would we do something about it?
Would we be trying to figure out how to weigh death policies against, say, immigration policy or fundraising, or would we demand that every level of government do something about it?
I think that even some pro-lifers disassociate ourselves from the reality of abortion, and when I realized what the number had hit, I felt it was time to remind us all of what it means and why the numbers are there.
Six million is also the estimate death toll of Germany’s “final solution.”
May God have mercy on our nation.
May God have mercy on us.
