Jim Wallis has a point

Usually, I find him well to the left of sensible, but Jim Wallis actually made some sense in this entry.

Ultimately, if we’re all honest, the Religious Right and the Religious Left should have more in common with each other than with the Secular Right and Secular Left. We, after all, should be brethren.

If you find that not to be the case, then we need to do some soul-searching. Someone’s gone into heresy, and you don’t want to be the one.

I would avoid the comments, though. I can sum up most of the more-than-100 like this: “I don’t like you because you disagree with me.”

I wonder if the people commenting even read the article.

A Couple Pages

I’ve added a couple new pages across the top … I put a link to “the field” as it stands, and my longer-than-usual “The Case for Huckabee,” which defines why I think he’s the best possible candidate for the Presidency. I invite you to take a look and comment, if you so desire.

Working the field series cancelled

Not that anyone was really reading it (except the one about Mike Gravel … I might never figure that one out), but I’m no longer working on my “Working the field” series.

I have entered a different phase with the campaign, and will be pursuing my own agenda, that of helping the Mike Huckabee campaign.

I do hold to my belief that every legitimate candidate deserves some coverage, and I did want to do my small part to make up for the dereliction of duty by the lazy press, which thinks that figuring out who fathered a celebrity’s baby  deserves more coverage than a third party Presidential run.

I would think that with half a dozen 24-hour news networks, someone could step up and commit a few minutes each evening to profiling a lesser-known candidate so that voters can make fully-informed choices. But I guess there were more important stories like heiresses spending half an hour in jail and whoever came out of the rehab revolving door. I, though, can no longer commit to doing it. I have to admit, writing about the Greens candidates did rather suck the enjoyment out of the whole thing.

I am going to make all of this information available as a separate page, and I will still try to update it now and then. But I can’t promise to profile as many candidates as I’d hoped.

Instead, I will be working, here and in the real world, more directly for the Mike Huckabee campaign, and addressing it from my Christian perspective.

Thanks for understanding.
