An Invitation

Sam Brownback is expected to withdraw from his Presidential bid.

I woud like to invite his supporters to come over to the candidate who should be their natural next choice … Governor Mike Huckabee.

I was watching the Values Voter Debate DVD with my wife this morning (yes, geekiness runs strong in my family …) and we watched the Mike Huckabee section, then Sam Brownback. We didn’t get any further before leaving for work. But I was just commenting about how Brownback has a lot of good traits, and how much I appreciated his story about being admonished by Mother Theresa with the words, “All for Jesus.”

Which other candidate can say, “All for Jesus?” Which other candidate in the Republican field could actually say that he got into politics because he’s pro-life?

I think that the logical choices would be either Alan Keyes or Mike Huckabee. I would invite you to take a serious look at Mike.

I realize that there are areas of disagreement between the two candidates, and between the two campaigns. I think that those disagreements are reconcilable. Ultimately, both campaigns are based on the same principles — respect for life and love for God, and bringing those values into the White House run.

I want those who believe as I do to be with me … and I think that Sam Brownback’s supporters are the same kind of true believers that Mike Huckabee’s supporters are. Come, join us. Let’s make a strong run, as the candidates who say, “For God and country” and mean it … and mean it in that order.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, Lt. General Ricardo Sanchez, the former commander of US forces in Iraq,  made a speech last week that was very critical of the war in Iraq and its handling.

In case you’ve only been listening to some traditional media outlets, he was critical of its handling by everybody. Read the rest of this entry »
