Working the field, part IX - Alexander
September 29, 2007 — wickleIf you’re looking at that and saying, “Who?” then please read on …
It is a firm belief of mine that more than just a few Presidential candidates deserve time and attention. It has been one of my complaints about the current race in the two major parties that even they can’t give attention to each of their candidates — to say nothing of the tendency to ignore the “third parties.”
So, here is Stewart Alexander, running for the Socialist and Peace and Freedom Parties.
If you’re like me, you probably didn’t even know that there was a Peace and Freedom Party. Apparently, they’re only on the ballot in California.
Stewart Alexander has been a talk show host in Los Angeles, and has run for mayor of that city as well as lieutenant governor of California.
His agenda specifically includes rather predictable socialist program — a guaranteed income for everybody, finding good jobs for illegal aliens (and an immediate freeze on deportations), his own proposal regarding home foreclosures, along with the rest of the Peace and Freedom Party platform.
Apparently, Mr. Alexander has said that he would withdraw from the PFP nomination if he did not receive the Socialist nomination in October of this year.
I don’t suppose that I even need to put my own comments here … I’m not a socialist. I certainly don’t approve of free abortion on demand, and I’m not so sure about the wisdom of abolishing the CIA and NSA. I’m not into decriminalizing drugs, and certainly not the insanity of allowing “resident non-citizens” to vote. (Yes, I’m serious, it’s in their platform.)
He does support the right of “the working people” to keep and bear arms, though. That’s something …
